I will make a few comments here for everyone to see and will response to you in greater detail through email for your specific points.

As you may already know the only way to improve your run is to run. Start out by jogging for 3-5 minutes then walking for 2 minutes. gradually increase the running phase as you reduce the walking phase. For example run 4:30 then walk 1:30 and so on until you can run as long as you want whither it be 1 mile or 20 miles.

This is one of the methods I use to improve my run. There was a time when I couldn't run to the end of the block but now I can run 2 miles without feeling tired, and that's only because I don't want to run more then 2 miles based on my fitness goals.
